Church Fete & Fun Dog Show

News Category:

Parish

The bi-annual Church Fete & Fun Dog Show took place on Sunday 24th June in the gardens of Bulwick Hall by kind permission of Mr & Mrs G T Conant and, despite the uncertainty of the weather, many people attended.  The Fun Dog Show proved to be quite a crowd pleaser and the winners from the classes were as follows: Prettiest Bitch - ‘Plum’ owned by Mrs Cotton; Handsomest Dog - ‘Bolt’ owned by Mr M Beaton; Best Puppy - ‘Ruby’ owned by Mrs Rodulso; Best Veteran - ‘Jasper’ owned by Mrs D. Conant; Best Six Legs - ‘Fern’ owned by Miss S. Tyers, Best Tail Wagger - ‘Gem’ owned by Mrs J Davies.  All the winners from each of the classes were then put forward for the much acclaimed title ‘Best in Show’ and after much deliberation the judge Mrs Caroline Stephens awarded the title to the two year old black Labrador called Fern.  During the afternoon a superb dance display was given by Arabesque School of Dance and the teacher Mrs Laura Kinzett proudly introduced the dancers to a very appreciative audience.  Thrapston Town Band played throughout the afternoon and the weather managed to stay dry and sunny which made for an enjoyable event.  To compliment the afternoon a raffle with a good selection of prizes including a Helicopter Flight, Champagne plus much more.  The tombola, teas, cakes and bric-a-brac all did brisk trade. Many thanks to all who helped in anyway to make this such a success; your help is very much appreciated.  Many thanks also to Mr & Mrs G T Conant for the use of their beautiful garden and to Mrs Joanna Forster for very kindly opening the Fete. Takings on the day totalled £1,100 for church funds.
