Laxton The benefice family service held on St Nicholas Day - 6th December - in St Nicholas Church - was very well attended by villagers from the Benefice.
Christingles were presented during the service and afterwards refreshments were offered including a special cake to symbolize that 2009 is the International Year of the Child. The children’s corner of the church had been decorated to include a Christmas Tree for The Children’s Society, and visitors to the church were invited to place a decoration on the tree in return for a donation for the Society. Many thanks to all who donated the total of £91.85 (including the church collection) which has been donated to The Children’s Society and to Pat for producing such a wonderfully decorated cake.

There was just the right atmosphere for a pre-Christmas event and a record £137 was raised for Church Funds.
