Monthly Coffee Morning
We started the new year with our Church coffee morning at the home of Sue and Richard Trow-Smith. The event was very well attended, with old and new faces happy to be able to catch up with our news and conversation. Our warm thanks to Sue and Richard for their welcoming hospitality, and a record £126.20p which will go to Church funds. Thank you also to all who supported this event.

Monthly Coffee Morning
Our Christmas Church Coffee Morning was held on 14th December at the home of Rosemary and John Grove. A very happy group enjoyed their warm hospitality with coffee, mince pies and sherry and some very enthusiastic voices singing carols to John Barratt’s piano accompaniment. Thank you John. We will be sending £102.10 to Church funds. Thank you to all who came: we look forward to your valuable support in 2012.
Our first Church Coffee Morning for 2012 will be at the home of Sue and Richard Trow-Smith in West Street on January 11th at 10.30 am: do please come along. We are including a bring and buy table, so bring along any Christmas presents you may like to ‘part’ with ! We also need additional volunteers to ‘host’ a coffee morning. Those who already invite us into their homes know that we help to set up and clear away too. Do contact me if you think you can help.

Greetings from Sidmouth
Another year has gone by and we are enjoying life in Sidmouth. Josie is very active in the Methodist church enjoying the choir and Women’s Fellowship. Gerry has taken up water colour painting once again and is also a member of the men’s forum in Sidmouth. We both attend the Wesley Guild.
It has been wonderful seeing friends calling in on their travels and to take the opportunity to visit King’s Cliffe and to catch up with many. We are sorry to have missed some of you, but as the festive season approaches we will be thinking of you all and raise a glass to you, wishing you all a Merry Christmas and a Healthy and Happy New Year.

Seeing those we remember
A few years ago I put together a Roll of Honour book giving details of the servicemen who are commemorated on the war memorial plaques in King’s Cliffe Parish Church. This book is available for reference on the table at the back of the church. Through the generosity of people who have lent photographs to copy, I have been able to add to the book pictures of a few of these men: Edward Beale, John Giddings, Donald Kingston, Arthur Saunders and Charles Wootton (pictured as a boy). There are still many others named in the Roll of Honour book for whom I would like to locate photographs. There is one serviceman from the 1st World War whose first name we do not know: after Harry Green and Herbert V Green, he is recorded simply as ‘H Green’. If you can provide his first name, or have any other information or pictures, I would be very pleased to hear from you. Thank you.
