Spring Harvest

This year about 80 members of St’ Peter’s went to Spring Harvest at Skegness, staying at the Butlins holiday complex.  There was a very full programme which we could dip into as we wished.  After breakfast the day started with very lively worship in the Big Top followed by a Bible Study.  There were then groups divided according to different learning styles in which we could explore more deeply the issues raised.  There were discussion groups on a variety of topics and prayer ministry throughout the day and we could take advantage of Butlins’ facilities – fairground, swimming pool, spa etc.  In the evenings there was a choice of lively worship in the Big Top, alternative worship led by the Northumbrian Community and worship led by Gerard and Chrissie Kelly.  There were even late night debates and performances by the Saltmine Theatre Company who have visited us at St. Peter’s.  The children and young people also enjoyed a very full programme of activities in groups according to their age.  The evening usually finished in the bar relaxing and getting to know each other better over a quiet drink.  For some, Spring Harvest was not quite what they were used to, but an experience nevertheless.  Most found it very positive and enjoyable giving us the opportunity to spend time with each other and to have deeper conversations than is possible in the hubbub of church life.
