Open to Jesus, Open to All

Welcome to St Peter’s Church, Oundle! There has been a church in Oundle since 709AD when a controversial hard-to-live-with Saxon saint called Wilfrid died at Oundle Minster. Since then every generation of Christians in Oundle have had the same task. That is, to be Open to Jesus, and open to all. We believe that Jesus is not some well-meaning, dusty, do-gooding figure of history, who lived 2000 years ago and is now trapped in a cracked stained glass window, in some empty, cold Victorian church. Jesus is alive and active. Jesus warms our hearts and shapes our lives. Jesus is the most important person we can encounter. He invites us to follow him and trust him. He offers us freedom from the guilt of the past. He promises hope and a future. As we become open to Jesus he transforms our lives. The Bible tells us: There is nothing we can do to make him love us more. There is nothing we can do to make him love us less. He simply loves us. Amazing grace! That’s good news worth sharing. Being open to Jesus also means that we are open to all. Open to the needs, desires, hopes, fears, joys, sorrows, nightmares, dreams and lives of those around us. We are here to make a difference. Jesus brought light to a dark world and he invites us to do the same ... wherever we are. Open to Jesus. Open to all.
