Mercy Ships

12% of our Mission Support goes to Mercy Ships which has been delivering specialised health care and community development services to the forgotten poor for over 30 years. The ships  have served in more than 150 ports bringing lasting change to millions of lives.  The vision is to “seek to become the face of love in action, bringing hope and healing to the poor”.

The ships are crewed by doctors, nurses, water engineers and agriculturalists - all volunteers from all over the world.  Mercy Ships provides free, specialised operations that save lives, improve the quality of life and restore hope.  They work with people who are blind (cataracts etc), deformed (tumours, congenital abnormalities, cleft palate, burns, leprosy etc), injured (through childbirth, war or work), or who need dental treatment.  In addition Mercy Ships will partner local communities, churches and schools to help provide clean water, improve sanitation and give training in health care and agriculture.

           St. Peter's Contact:  Ali Coutts

One of the St. Peter's Administrators, Yvonne Harris, is currently serving on a Mercy ship for 6 months visiting Benin and Togo.  See her latest news and prayer requests.

Lives Changed

Around the world, billions of people live in fear and desperation, with impure water, inadequate food, and little or no access to health care. Behind every statistic is a story, a life –- a person waiting for hope and healing. For those whose lives come in contact with Mercy Ships, they never forget the day everything changed.

Perspectives

Mercy Ships programmes promote health and well-being by serving the urgent surgical needs of the forgotten poor and empowering developing communities

Haiti UpdateThe crisis in Haiti continues to be a long term focus for Mercy Ships.  We have teams in Haiti on a regular basis that are helping to rebuild the medical infrastructure of the country.  Mercy Ships remains committed to long term support for the people of Haiti.
