Mothers Prayers is the prayer group for mothers who wish to pray together for their children and grandchildren (www. mothersprayers.org.uk).
It was started in November 1995 by two mothers who felt a growing need to pray in a more committed way, in order to combat the problems facing our children. Since then it has spread to many, many countries throughout the world. It has the approval and blessing of Christian leaders of all denominations.
At our meetings, we place a basket on a table at the foot of the Cross. We use a booket with nine simple prayers of preparation before we each put the names of our children one by one into this basket as a symbol of our handing our children into the Lord's care. Everything we do and say is kept confidential.
Mothers Prayers is for all women - all those who have a mother's heart. There is no difference between a physical mother, a single woman or those who are married without children. All are most welcome!
Here at St James we started our own group in September 2010 and we meet every Monday morning at 9:30 am in the Rectory. We welcome anyone who has a heart to pray for children, from whatever denomination. If you would be interested in joining us please contact Sophia Robson (01832 734614). We'd be delighted to welcome you.
"Stop your crying and wipe away your tears.
All that you have done for your children will not go unrewarded.
They will return from the enemy's land.
There is hope for your future.
Your children will come back home.
I, the Lord, have spoken."
